Is it safe to take Levitra with horny goat weed?
I recently have had an issue with ED. I went to the doctor and they ran some tests, but in the meantime she prescribed a trial of Levitra. Also i had researched natural supplements, Yohimbe and Horny Goat Weed. I went to Vitamin Shoppe and bought a bottle of Horny Goat Weed to take on a daily basis. My main question is, by taking the Goat Weed on a daily basis, is it still safe to take the Levitra one hour prior to sexual activity as it was prescribed? Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Look forward to your replies.

It’s quite safe, herbal remedies for ED as with many complaints are a complete waste of time, and certainly wont react with real medicines.
EDIT: What you really want to know about horny goat weed Mike, and other fans of chinese herbal remedies it has no adverse drug interactions.

No. You should not mix medications and herbals without expressly being told to do so by your doctor or pharmacist. You will find that most doctors and pharmacists will not recommend many herbals because of the lack of oversight. Herbals are considered nutritional supplements and are able to skirt around regulations that are designed to protect you, the public, from harm. They do not have to prove that they provide any benefit. They do not have to guarantee that each tablet (or capsule) has the exact dose that they claim. Basically, then go by the ‘average’, not an actual quality control model the way real medications are required to do. If they say a dose is 100mg per tablet, it could mean that one tablet has 10mg and another has 190mg, but they average to 100mg. So they just toss all of the ingredients together in a giant vat and make a bunch of tablets (or capsules) and call it a day. No testing required. Also, and this is a big one, they are not required to test them against other medication for interactions!!! The only way to know about interactions is that enough people experience them and report them. Usually this takes years to figure out the correlation. By then, who knows how many people are harmed?
EDIT: Ron has given you BAD and potentially HARMFUL advice!
I think horny goat weeds is okay. But yohimbe is a dangerous herb. Both yohimbe and levitra has effect on blood pressure. Taking them both together is dangerous.
Jim,
The Goat weed in larger doses will have a slight depressing effect on your blood pressure. Same with Levitra. If you already have low blood pressure, be careful.
Try the Goat week as an addition to the Levitra and see if it works better that way, vs. daily intake. Then after a few tries, see if a large dose of Goat weed taken daily helps with the ED without the Levitra. Let your body be the feedback for you.
The Yohimbe has been linked to mood swings and aggression so be mindful of that. Taken too late in the evening it can really mess up your sleep.
You may also try adding zinc, magnesium, L-Arginine, and Vitamin E to your supplements.
If you are over-weight, the extra fat is cranking out estrogen adding to your ED problems. Lose the weight. The exercise will improve your ED symptoms as well.
Good luck.
