Is Yohimbe safe?
A friend has recommended that i try Yohimbe bark extract to lose weight.I take certain meds on a daily basis.One is Effexor XR for generalized anxiety disorder,and the other being Lisino-HTCZ for blood pressure.I need to know if it is safe for me to take this to lose weight.What are the side effects? If anyone knows,please respond a.s.a.p. Thanks

Yohimbe bark, which contains yohimbine, is used mostly as a male aphrodisiac. I never heard of it being used to lose weight. However, as yohimbe extract can lower blood pressure, and you are taking Lisino for your blood pressure, I would definitely stay away from this potentially dangerous herb.
STAY AWAY!!!! You don’t need anything like that to loose weight. The only way to loose weight in a healthy way is to change your lifestyle. PERIOD, end of story. No diets or herbal remedies work, only nutrition plans (which are for life, not 30 days). Try a cleansing fast , like the master cleanse, then start a new life by following the sparkpeople program.
I have Anxiety disorder as well. When I was younger I tried Yohimbe and it made me feel bipolar. One 500mg pill would make me on edge for 16 hours and I couldn’t sleep for two days. I took more anyway because, on the other hand it made me as horny as a rabbit and I would have sex for hours. It makes your skin crawl in a good way, like X does and makes you want to touch, ALOT.
I no longer use any drugs other than those used to manage my anxiety and depression but I would NEVER mix these. You would NOT like the effects if you have anxiety.

Its like caffeine on steroids with a side order or viagra and crystal meth thrown in. Seriously, Its that strong. Just look it up and you’ll see.
I’m chemically sensitive so, your experience may be different, and dosage matters too.
Yohimbe also affects blood pressure and cardio systems.

GENERALLY AVOID: Some antidepressants such as the tricyclics may potentiate the pressor effect of yohimbine. The mechanism is a synergistic sympathomimetic effect due to stimulation of norepinephrine release by yohimbine and inhibition of norepinephrine reuptake by certain antidepressants.
MANAGEMENT: Yohimbine should be avoided in patients undergoing concurrent treatment with tricyclic antidepressants or other drugs that interfere with neuronal uptake or metabolism of norepinephrine.
